In the Hotseat

Earlier this week, I sat down with Leeds Trinity University’s Prof. Jonathan Jackson to talk about ‘Care & Control’ and my journey as an author so far. The event was part of LTU’s Social Justice Lecture series, organised by the Office of Institutional Equity’s Susan Wilcock.

I’m normally the one asking the questions, so it was an interesting experience to be in the hotseat for a change. Jonathan asked some really insightful questions, as did the audience.

It was humbling to see so many people turn out to listen to me talk about my work. A few of the audience came to chat with me afterwards about the impact the book had on them. Absolutely surreal.

On my way home, a fox darted into the road and stared at me. For those that don’t know, foxes seem to have become the mascots for C&C. It was the perfect end to the night.

This week has made me reflect on my good fortune. I’ve met some amazing, talented people on this journey and I’m grateful for their support, and that of my readers.
